Genesis Volatility Launches Live Chainlink Node

We’re pleased to announce that Genesis Volatility has launched our own Chainlink node live on mainnet, bringing institutional grade crypto option analytics on-chain for use by smart contract developers. While Genesis Volatility has a deep set of options and futures analytics, some of the initial datasets developers can obtain from our Chainlink node include analytics on how implied volatility is being priced, comparisons of realized volatility vs. implied volatility over time, volatility surface data points, and much more. For those new to options, Genesis Volatility has also launched an instructional video series explaining the various aspects of options and related volatility metrics. These instructional videos can be found at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCW4nDdo46EjaDEd5R2RrkEw.

This data can be leveraged to build a wide variety of new smart contract applications that support the growing cryptocurrency options market, such as automated on-chain asset management products triggered by specific market indicators, exotic derivatives that hedge exposure to current options activity, and prediction markets on future implied volatility.

We selected Chainlink as our go-to oracle solution for getting our existing suite of APIs blockchain enabled because it’s the most widely adopted oracle network by DeFi developers, has a proven track record of strong security, and is compatible with any current or future blockchain. The setup process was seamless and straightforward, giving us access to the emerging blockchain market with minimal technical effort.

Through the Chainlink node, we have gained access to sell our data directly to developers and dApps across all the leading blockchains. Additionally, we can cryptographically sign our data on-chain to prove its origin as being from Genesis Volatility, further adding to its security as a reference point for triggering DeFi products. For more information on why we opted to use Chainlink to monetise our data for blockchain markets, check our previous announcement. Genesis Volatility is a leading provider of data analytics on the crypto derivatives market, covering the largest exchanges including both Deribit and Bit.com, with plans to further expand our coverage to other platforms like CME, Huobi, and OkEx. Through our APIs, developers are able to gain access to derivatives market data regarding current order books, historical trading activity, and realized volatility across a variety of options and futures contracts of varying expiration dates for both BTC and ETH markets.

We believe DeFi is only at the beginning of an extended period of rapid innovation and development, which will see increasing maturity, liquidity, and complexity offered throughout the cryptocurrency derivatives market. We plan to use our Chainlink node to cater to this growing market demand by providing developers with premium future and options analytics data on-chain, so don’t hesitate to reach out to us if you are a developer and need a unique data set.

“Seeing the acceleration in growth of cryptocurrency derivatives, we couldn’t pick a better time to launch a Chainlink node and directly support these next-generation smart contract applications with high-quality, cryptographically signed analytics data on options and futures markets. We’re excited to start servicing the Ethereum DeFi ecosystem without deeply refined data feeds, and look forward to using our Chainlink node to quickly expand on to additional blockchains as demand for derivatives data within those ecosystems emerge.” — Pat Doyle, Co-founder of Genesis Volatility.
